Access to Casper's 1st Street restricted at Ash and Market streets beginning next week
CASPER - Market and Ash streets access to 1st Street from the north will be closed beginning Monday, July 27 as work on 1st Street continues toward the Platte River bridge. Access is expected to be closed at both intersections through the week, ending on Friday, July 31.
Both Market and Ash streets will remain open to traffic, however, Market Street, which is currently a one-way street northbound, will be temporarily posted as a two-way street to allow for business access. Drivers wanting access to businesses on Ash Street can do so by using Nichols Avenue or David Street.
Additionally, work on the resurfacing of the North Platte River bridge has begun this week. All work on 1st Street is being performed on the westbound driving lanes. Access from side streets to the south remain open.
Dynamic message signs are currently notifying drivers in the area of the upcoming closures. As throughout this project, access to all business on 1st Street remain open, though on-street parking on 1st Street has been restricted.
The construction is being performed by Reiman Corp. of Cheyenne, at an approximate cost of $2.4 million.
