'You Drink & Drive, You Lose' annual campaign begins in Natrona County

Date: 11/23/2009

CASPER – Drunk drivers in Natrona County take heed: the annual Natrona County campaign against drunk driving kicks off at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, with a press conference at the Natrona County Courthouse atrium.

This year’s campaign features education along with enforcement and the goal of changing people’s perception from “It won’t happen to me,” to “It can happen to me.” The fact is three out of every nine individuals will be involved in an alcohol-related crash. Any one of us may be the offender, the victim or the loved one left behind.
The idea behind the 2009 You Drink & Drive. You Lose. campaign is a simple one: zero fatalities in our community due to impaired driving during the 2009 holiday season (Nov. 24 – Jan. 1, 2010). The holidays should be a time for joy, not sorrow caused by a drunk driver.
The event begins at 2 p.m. during the Natrona County Commission work session, held inside the courthouse on Center Street. Following opening remarks, the commissioners will proclaim “Open Season on Drunk Drivers!” during the upcoming holidays.
You Drink & Drive. You Lose. of Natrona County is made up of the following agencies: Natrona County Sheriff, Casper Police, Mills Police, Evansville Police, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Safe Kids/Communities of Central Wyoming, WYDOT, Wyoming Medical Center, Casper College and other volunteers working to reduce the number of drunk drivers on our streets.
