Wyoming Boulevard/Poplar Street Intersection set to close for reconstruction
CASPER - As part of the reconstruction of the Wyoming Boulevard/Poplar Street intersection, beginning Wednesday, June 2, the north side of the intersection will be closed to traffic.
Detours will be posted directing motorists to use Coffman Avenue to access Wyoming Boulevard from Poplar Street and Poplar Street from Wyoming Boulevard. Access to the Sunrise shopping area from Wyoming Boulevard will be via Coffman Avenue. Through traffic on Wyoming Boulevard will still be permitted though delays will be likely.
This closure is expected to last 1-1/2 weeks, depending on weather.
The overall project will replace deteriorating concrete surfacing of the intersection. Waterlines under the roadway will be replaced and sidewalk will be added to Wyoming Boulevard in the intersection area. The project involves grading, milling plant mix, removal of concrete pavement, placing crushed base and bituminous pavement surfacing, concrete pavement, sidewalk, curb and gutter, traffic signal system, water system, and miscellaneous work on 0.36 miles of WYO 258 (Wyoming Boulevard) at its intersection with Poplar Street in Casper.
The anticipated final completion date of the project is Aug. 31.
