CASPER - The bridge deck pour on the Poplar Street bridge has been rescheduled for tonight, beginning at 10 p.m., and ending at 6 a.m., Thursday morning. During this time, the bridge will be closed to all traffic.
The pour was scheduled for Tuesday night, however, strong, dry winds forced crews to call the concrete off. The winds and dry air created a situation where moisture in the concrete would evaporate too fast resulting in a substandard deck.
The same situation could be repeated tonight, if the winds pick up. Right now, the forecast is for winds from 8-10 mph, which would allow the pour. Once the pour is completed and the bridge reopened, all current traffic restrictions will remain in effect.
