GLENDO – The aging bridge on Wyoming Highway 319 just south of Glendo is scheduled to be replaced this summer and WYDOT has committed to help ease access issues on both side of the bridge.
The 75-year-old bridge over the BNSF Railroad is located on the southern edge of Glendo, at milepost 114.13. Highway 319 runs north and south from Glendo to Interstate 25 exit 100.
Consequently, Highway 319 will be closed during construction between mileposts 114.12 and 114.14. Access to all businesses and residences on either side of the bridge will remain open.
To help with access during the bridge replacement, a temporary intersection will be constructed on I-25 at County Road 59, approximately 1 mile south of Glendo. The intersection will allow only northbound traffic to enter I-25 and southbound traffic to exit. Full access is available at the Glendo interchange, exit 111. Detour signs will be posted in the area.
Demolition of the existing bridge is scheduled to begin March 28, weather permitting, after the temporary interchange has been constructed. Reiman Corp. of Cheyenne, the project’s general contractor, has begun clearing work at the interchange.
In addition to replacing the bridge, the project includes grading, draining, crushed base and bituminous pavement surfacing, guardrail, fencing and other miscellaneous work around the bridge. The project’s cost is $3.5 million and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 31.
