Ride of Silence set for Casper

Date: 05/09/2012

Join fellow bicyclists around the world Wednesday, May 16 at Casper's Tate Pumphouse for the Ride of Silence.

This short ride honors those who have been killed or injured while riding their bicycles and helps raise awareness of cyclists' presence on our roadways and trails. Wyoming averages one to two bicycle fatalities per year, with two deaths as recently as 2009. In 2010, there were 12 injury crashes involving bicycles statewide and fortunately, no fatalities. (No statistics for 2011 yet)

The event is free. Each rider is required to wear a helmet. Safe Kids of Central Wyoming will be available to properly fit helmets, and will have helmets available for a donation.
The Tate Pumphouse is located at 1775 W. 1st St. Casper's Ride of Silence was first held in 2010. It is hosted locally by WYDOT.
