Wyoming Department of Transportation

Jackson Streets Project will begin March 18

Date: 03/15/2013

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has awarded the Jackson Streets Project to Evans Construction Company out of Jackson. The project was awarded for a bid of $5,754,948.

Evans Construction Company, out of Jackson, met with WYDOT and Town of Jackson officials last Wednesday to begin scheduling the urban job.

The project encompasses reconstruction of the 5-lane roadway on 0.30 miles of US 89 on West Broadway between the Flat Creek Bridge and the Jackson Streets intersection. Work will include, but is not limited to: milling, paving and curb and gutter work. This project will also include water and sewer upgrades for the Town of Jackson.

The construction will be compressed into a short, one season schedule and will include a short break in July to mid-August in order to limit traffic disruption during the peak tourist season.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to two lanes, one each direction. Left turns will be prohibited in the construction zone. Construction will be broken up into two phases. Phase I will start March 18, beginning with mobilization of equipment and traffic control. Phase I will be the reconstruction of the road through the 5-way intersection, from Flat Creek to MacPhails Restaurant.
The light at the intersection will be shut off and traffic will move continuously through the construction area. There will be alternative closures of Pearl Street and Flat Creek.

Crews should be off the road at the end of Phase I by July 1.

Phase II will begin mid-August and continue to the end of the project. This phase will include work from MacPhails to the Elks Club. Again, no left turns will be allowed. The project completion date is Nov. 30, 2013. There will be a break in construction on the road from July 1 to mid-August.

A Web site has been created to share information about the project, such as the construction phases, current news and a work calendar. The address is www.jacksonstreets.com.
