Buffalo Area I-90 and I-25 Nightly Hour Long Road Closures

The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced today that there will be a series of 1 hour road closures beginning Monday, August 19, 2013 on Interstate 90 and Interstate 25.  This is the second in a series of road closures to allow the contractor, Casper Electric, to place the steel structures for the Overhead Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). 

Monday night, August 19, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the WEST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 59.9 just east of Buffalo.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Tuesday night, August 20, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the EAST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 59.9, just east of Buffalo.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Wednesday night, August 21, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the South Bound Lanes of I-25 at Mile Post 296.5, just south of Buffalo.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Thursday night, August 22, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the North Bound Lanes of I-25 at Mile Post 296.5, just south of Buffalo.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

WYDOT is installing 19 total Dynamic Message Signs at 10 locations in the North East corner of Wyoming with this project.  The message signs on 1-90 in the Sheridan area near the Port of Entry, MP 18.2, and Sheridan College, MP 26.7, and in the buffalo area near the Rock Creek exit, MP 54.3 have been installed.  The contractor will be installing in the Buffalo area on I-90 just east of Buffalo at MP 59.9, and on I-25 south of Buffalo, MP 296.5 the week of August 19, 2013. In the coming months they will install signs in the Gillette area on I-90 east of Gillette, MP 122.7, and West of Gillette, MP 130.3.  In the Sundance area the signs will be installed on I-90 east of Sundance, MP 183.2, and West of Sundance, 190.4.

Dynamic Message Signs often are abbreviated DMS they are electronic traffic signs often used on roadways to give travelers information about specific events.  Such as road conditions, accidents, roadwork zones, amber alerts, road closures and any other messages that may be pertinent to the traveling public.
