I-90 Nightly Hour Long Road Closures beginning September 9, 2013 in the Gillette Area

The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced today that there will be a series of 1 hour road closures beginning tonight, September 9, 2013 on Interstate 90.  These road closures are to allow the contractor, Casper Electric, to place the steel structures for the Overhead Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). 

Monday night, Sept 9, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the WEST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 130.33, just east of Gillette.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Tuesday night, Sept 10, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the EAST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 130.33, just east of Gillette.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Wednesday night, Sept 11, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the WEST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 122.74, just west of Gillette.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Thursday night, Sept 12, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the EAST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 122.74, just west of.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

WYDOT is installing 19 total Dynamic Message Signs at 10 locations in the North East corner of Wyoming with this project.  The message signs have been signs installed on 1-90 at  MP 18.2 and MP 26.7 in Sheridan and MP 54.3 and MP 59.9, and on I-25, MP 296.5 in the Buffalo area.  In the Gillette area the signs will be installed on I-90 east of Gillette, MP 122.7, and West of Gillette, MP 130.3.  In the Sundance area the signs will be installed on I-90 east of Sundance, MP 183.2, and West of Sundance, 190.4.

Dynamic Message Signs often are abbreviated DMS they are electronic traffic signs often used on roadways to give travelers information about specific events.  Such as road conditions, accidents, roadwork zones, amber alerts, road closures and any other messages that may be pertinent to the traveling public.
