Sundance Area I-90 Nightly Hour Long Road Closures

The Wyoming Department of Transportation announced today that there will be a series of 1 hour road closures beginning today Monday, September 20, 2013 on Interstate 90.  This is the third in a series of road closures to allow the contractor, Casper Electric, to place the steel structures for the Overhead Dynamic Message Signs (DMS). 

Monday night, September 30, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the WEST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 190.44 just east of Sundance.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Tuesday night, October 1, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the EAST Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 190.4, just east of Sundance.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Wednesday night, October 2, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the West Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 183.24, just west of Sundance.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. 

Thursday night, October 3, 2013, beginning at 10 PM there will be an hour long road closure of the East Bound Lanes of I-90 at Mile Post 183.24, just west of Sundance.  The road will close for approximately one hour and then re-open to let traffic thru and then will close again for an additional hour.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route.

WYDOT is installing 19 total Dynamic Message Signs at 10 locations in the North East corner of Wyoming with this project.  The contractor has installed the message signs on 1-90 in the Sheridan area near the Port of Entry, MP 18.2, and Sheridan College, MP 26.7, and in the buffalo area near the Rock Creek exit, MP 54.3 and on I-90 just east of Buffalo at MP 59.9, and on I-25 south of Buffalo, MP 296.5.  They have also installed the signs in the Gillette area on I-90 east of Gillette, MP 122.7, and west of Gillette, MP 130.3.  They will install the signs in the Sundance area this week on I-90 east of Sundance, MP 183.2, and West of Sundance, 190.4. They will install the signs in the Orin Junction area on I-25 at MP 127.06 on October 9 and 10. 

Dynamic Message Signs often are abbreviated DMS they are electronic traffic signs often used on roadways to give travelers information about specific events.  Such as road conditions, accidents, roadwork zones, amber alerts, road closures and any other messages that may be pertinent to the traveling public.
