Chip sealing begins in Park, Big Horn, Hot Springs and Fremont counties
A $3.3 million contract chip sealing project is scheduled to begin next week in Park County on Wyoming 120, Wyoming 294, and U.S. 14A.
Chip sealing is scheduled next week on Wyoming 120 (mileposts 133.06 to 137.53) north of Cody near the Montana state line, Wyoming 294 (Badger Basin Road between Ralston and Clark, mileposts 0.00 to 9.82), and U.S. 14A (milepost 29.53 to 33.76) between Garland and Byron.
Prime contractor Riverside Contracting, Inc., of Missoula, Mont., is scheduled to move to Big Horn County highways following the work in Park County. The contractor will chip-seal Wyoming 32 (mileposts 100.00 to 106.50) near Lovell, U.S. 310/Wyoming 789 (mileposts 230.6 to 236.1) near Lovell, U.S. 14A (mileposts 46.71 to 66.00) near Lovell, U.S. 14 (mileposts 15.33 to 20.37) near Shell, and U.S. 14/16/20 (mileposts 77.74 to 93.00) west of Greybull.
The contractor is scheduled to return to Park County and U.S. 14/16/20 (mileposts 36.40 to 49.00) west of Cody between Trout Creek and the Cody city limits.
All work is dependent on favorable weather.
A contract chip sealing schedule will be released at a later date for highways in Hot Springs and Fremont counties.
"All work will be controlled with flaggers and pilot vehicles," said Todd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody. "Motorists should expect traffic delays of up to 20 minutes during the contract chip sealing and sweeping operations. There will be night-time flagging and pilot car with traffic delays while there are loose chips on the roadways."
The contractor's scope of work includes chip sealing and other work on 111.24 miles of various roads in central and northwest Wyoming.
Contract completion date is Aug. 31, 2013.
