US 14-16-20 bridge repairs to begin near Yellowstone Park
Repairs are scheduled to begin May 11 on a damaged bridge west of Cody near Yellowstone National Park, according to Todd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody.
“The US 14-16-20 project is scheduled to take approximately three months to complete,” Frost said. "The contractor plans to repair the bridge in May and the first part of June, and then clean the channel in July."
During the work, traffic will be restricted to one way across the bridge, and highway traffic will be controlled with a temporary traffic signal. A 14-foot width restriction across the bridge will go into effect on May 11.
The $318,000 project consists of removal and replacement of a damaged concrete girder and portion of bridge deck on the bridge at milepost 0.28.
“This bridge was damaged by mud and debris flow during the summer of 2008," Frost said. “The project also includes cleaning the existing channel of mud and debris.”
Reiman Corporation of Cheyenne is the prime contractor.
Contract completion date for project is Sept. 30, 2009.
WYDOT contact for this project is Resident Engineer Todd Frost, 587-2220.
