Meeteetse asphalt overlay project to begin next week

Shoulder work and asphalt rotomilling is scheduled to begin next week on 6.04 miles of WYO 290 beginning in Meeteetse, according to Todd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody.

Prime contractor Century Companies Inc., is mobilizing equipment to the $1.9 million asphalt rehabilitation project this week.

“The contractor intends to start working on the shoulders the week of June 15, and they plan to rotomill the portion of the project in the town of Meeteetse the same week,” Frost said. “They hope to start paving operations the week of June 22.”

Frost said traffic will be controlled with a pilot vehicle and flaggers, and drivers should expect short delays.

Completion date for the project is Sept. 30, 2009.

The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded Century Companies Inc. the bid to widen the shoulders and overlay 6.04 miles of WYO 290 with a new layer of asphalt last November.

WYDOT contact for this project is Resident Engineer Todd Frost, 587-2220.
