Cody Northeast project starts; pipe detour opens

Dirt work has started and a detour is open on the $10.2 million US 14-A five-lane highway improvement project between Cody and Powell, according toTodd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody.

“The contractor is in full production building fill alongside the highway, starting at milepost 10.06 and working toward Powell,” Frost said. “The contractor is also detouring traffic at a pipe location at milepost 10.06. This will allow the contractor to install the other half of the pipe.”

When this pipe installation is complete, the contractor is expected to move to milepost 10.9 in install another pipe. A detour will also be part of the milepost 10.9 pipe work.

Frost said motorists should expect reduced speeds and possible short delays during the pipe installation. Following the pipe work, traffic will be allowed to use the existing roadway.

Frost said the contractor’s work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. five days a week.

“Motorists can continue to expect reduced speeds and possible delays throughout the project, and delays will not exceed 10 minutes,” Frost said. “By contract, traffic will not be stopped between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.”

Frost said a 12-foot width restriction on trucks is in effect for the project.
