Bid awarded for emergency repairs of Gas Hills Road (WYO 136)
A $662,000 bid has been awarded for emergency repairs to fix a 500-foot section of Gas Hills Road about seven miles east of Riverton.
Gas Hills Road (WYO 136) is east of Riverton. Large amounts of flowing water resulting from a July 4 rain storm in the Beaver Rim area damaged the roadway. Witnesses on July 4 encountered water flows of nearly three feet above a quarter-mile of the highway for several hours.
Rice-Kilroy Construction Inc., of Dubois, was awarded the bid Thursday by the Wyoming Transportation Commission.
Rice-Kilroy workers are expected to begin excavation in the area late next week. “The state highway will be one lane during construction, and traffic will be controlled with a 24-hour traffic signal,” said Robert Scheidemantel, acting resident engineer with the Wyoming Department of Transportation. “Please slow down and drive sensibly through the work zone.”
Rice-Kilroy is required to complete all work within the highway right-of-way, including paving, by Nov. 15. Contract completion date for the project is June 15, 2010.
