South Fork Road paving begins Thursday
Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin Thursday, Sept. 24, on 6.83 miles of WYO 291 (South Fork Road) near Cody, according to Todd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody.
Prime contractor Riverside Contracting of Missoula, Mont., is scheduled for paving between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes, and a pilot car will be used to control traffic.
“Work is expected to last three to four weeks,” Frost said.
“Please allow extra time in traveling South Fork Road during paving. We need all drivers to slow down for their safety and the safety of workers,” Frost said.
Paving will consist of a 1-inch asphalt leveling layer, a 2-inch asphalt overlay, and a chip seal between mileposts 2.68 and 9.51 on WYO 291.
Frost said the road’s chip seal finish is scheduled for the summer of 2010.
The South Fork Road asphalt rehabilitation project is being funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Contract completion date for the project is Sept. 15, 2010.
