Asphalt pavement overlay project under way near Boysen Reservoir

A $1.66 million asphalt pavement overlay project is under way between Shoshoni and Thermopolis on U.S. 20/Wyoming 789 near Boysen Reservoir, according to Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton.

“Prime contractor Mountain Construction Co., of Lovell has about two weeks of asphalt paving to go, then a chip seal finish will be applied to the new roadway surface,” Scheidemantel said. “Travelers should expect traffic delays of up to 20 minutes during this work, and traffic is being moved through the project with pilot vehicles.”

The highway improvements are between mileposts 112.9 and 116.45 on U.S. 20/Wyoming 789.

In addition to the $1.66 million asphalt pavement rehabilitation, workers are also responsible for a $66,000 pipe settlement repair near Boysen Dam, building a turning lane near the Boysen State Park headquarters, removal and replacement of guardrail, and a highway chip seal finish.

Completion date for the Shoshoni-Thermopolis Boysen Section improvements is Sept. 30, 2010.
