Sheridan Avenue project progressing; paving scheduled to begin Aug. 30
A $2.05 million project to reconstruct Sheridan Avenue from 29th Street to 33rd Street in Cody is progressing, and asphalt paving is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 30, according to Todd Frost, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Cody.
“We realize that school starts Aug. 23, and we would have liked to complete paving prior to the start of school,” Frost said. “We may have to add extra flaggers or schedule work to ensure traffic picking up and dropping off students at school is not impacted, and we’ll do our best to account for all pedestrians in the work areas.”
Frost said afternoon rains and the process of excavating soft soils slowed work efforts in August.
Frost said the East Sheridan Avenue project has an Oct. 31 completion date. “We are well within our work window,” he said.
The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded the bid to rebuild East Sheridan Avenue to prime contractor J Wright Companies Inc. of Evanston on April 29.
Work includes grading; draining; placing crushed gravel base, asphalt pavement surfacing and asphalt wearing course; placing concrete pavement; removal and replacement of sidewalk, curb and gutter; and fencing and other work on .49 miles of Sheridan Avenue in Cody.
WYDOT contact for this project is Resident Engineer Todd Frost, 587-2220.
