Asphalt paving begins Sept. 1 on Sand Draw Road
Asphalt paving is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Sept. 1 on a $4.26 million asphalt pavement overlay project between Riverton and Sweetwater Station on Wyoming 135 (Sand Draw Road), according to Kevin Hart, Wyoming Department of Transportation construction technician in Lander.
“Prime contractor LeGrand Johnson Construction Co., of Logan, Utah, has completed roadway shoulder work, and will begin nearly eight weeks of paving on Wednesday,” Hart said. “Travelers should expect traffic delays during this project, and traffic will be moved through the project with pilot vehicles.”
Weather permitting, paving will be conducted six days a week between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Hart said paving will include a layer of pavement leveling, and a second layer of asphalt as part of final paving. Chip sealing of the roadway is scheduled for 2011.
The highway improvements will take place between mileposts .15 and 17.7 on Wyoming 135. Milepost .15 is located at the intersection of Sand Draw and Gas Hills roads at the southern edge of Riverton, and milepost 17.7 is near Beaver Rim.
Completion date for the Sand Draw Road improvements is June 30, 2011.
LeGrand Johnson Construction Co., is responsible for grading, draining, and milling asphalt pavement; placing pit run subbase; asphalt pavement surfacing; chip sealing; and other work on Wyoming 135.
