Pavement improvement project scheduled to begin this week on Wyoming 137 (17 Mile Road) near Riverton
 
A $1.34 million pavement improvement project is scheduled to begin Wednesday on Wyoming 137 (17 Mile Road) near Riverton.
 
Prime contractor is Mountain Construction Co., of Lovell.
 
The work zone begins near 17 Mile Road's intersection with Wyoming 789 at the traffic signal south of Riverton. The work zone extends past St. Stephen's Mission and St. Stephen's School.
 
"Paving is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 1, and pilot vehicles will lead traffic through the highway project. Please slow down for safety's sake," said Robert Scheidemantel, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Riverton. "Motorists should expect traffic delays of up to 20 minutes."
 
The contractor's scope of work includes includes grading, asphalt leveling, chip sealing and other work on 2.99 miles of 17 Mile Road beginning at milepost 3.03 for 2.99 miles near Riverton.
 
Contract completion date is Aug. 31, 2013.
