Aeronautics Commission to consider new air enhancement funding model

August 25, 2017

The Wyoming Aeronautics Commission will meet Aug. 28 in Cheyenne for a special meeting.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Auditorium at 5300 Bishop Blvd. and by teleconference. The meeting has been called so the commission may review a proposed air service model. Currently the State of Wyoming uses an Air Service Enhancement Program that helps fund air service for communities throughout Wyoming.

WYDOT Aeronautics Administrator Amy Surdam said the new proposal would help leverage funds and increase predictability and reliability for the state.

Officials may join the teleconference by dialing 877-820-7831. The presentation will be available on WebEx. The meeting number is 285 096 752 and the password to enter meeting will be August282017.

The next regularly scheduled business meeting will be in Afton Sept. 20-22, in conjunction with the Wyoming Airport Operators Association annual conference.

The seven commissioners, appointed by the governor for six-year terms, approve grants and loans of state and federal money for airport construction, maintenance, improvements, marketing and air service enhancements.

The commission holds six in-person meetings per year.
