Alternate route recommended to avoid US 85 flooding near Cheyenne

A section of U.S. 85 between Cheyenne and LaGrange was reopened Wednesday, but WYDOT recommended travelers take an alternate route to avoid the flooding that closed the highway earlier in the day.

The flooding is localized at milepost 31.5 about 13 miles northeast of the Interstate 25-U.S. 85 Torrington Interchange north of Cheyenne. Signs have been posted to warn drivers of the flooding ahead.

However, WYDOT recommends travelers use the alternate route of I-80 to WYO 213 to US 85 to avoid the flooded area.
