Motorists will see detours at Walterscheid Boulevard and West Allison Road

July 28, 2016

Motorists will be detoured around Walterscheid Boulevard at West Allison Road in Cheyenne starting the week of Aug. 1 so crews can complete storm sewer work.

Walterscheid Boulevard at West Allison Road will be closed so crews can install a manhole and storm sewers at that intersection. The work is part of the West Allison Road reconstruction project, which started on May 9.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will have detour signs posted throughout the area while crews complete the work. WYDOT anticipants that intersection will be closed and detour signs up until mid-August.

For the West Allison Road reconstruction project, crews are reconstructing 0.45 miles of road between Walterscheid Boulevard and South Greeley Highway (US 85). That area of road closed to through traffic when the project started.

Earlier this year, the Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded the $2 million contract to Simon Contractors. The work that remains on that section of West Allison includes paving the road and installing curbs, gutters, sidewalks and shoulders.

WYDOT anticipates that West Allison Road will reopen at the end of August and the entire job completed by Oct. 31.
