Parsley Boulevard I-80 overpass expected to reopen Saturday

February 28, 2014

The Parsley Boulevard Bridge over Interstate 80 in Cheyenne will reopen after required traffic control barriers are set up.

WYDOT bridge engineers have determined it is safe to restore traffic with a 15 mph speed limit and traffic control barriers to restrict the bridge to two 10-foot lanes.

Weather permitting the barriers should be in place by Saturday evening.

The bridge was closed on Feb. 28 after a westbound truck carrying an over-height storage tank damaged girders that had previously been struck by a truck carrying an over-height excavator last August.

The Wyoming Transportation Commission had just awarded a $662,000 contract on Feb. 20 for replacement of the two girders struck last August.

Trucking companies and operators can be charged for damage their vehicles cause to highway structures.
