Repairs will cause bridge lane closures near Saratoga

June 28, 2016

Workers will make repairs to a bridge north of Saratoga on WYO 130 starting this week, which will cause traffic to be down to one lane.

One lane of alternating traffic will be allowed to cross the bridge at a time while crews do the work on Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1. Flaggers will be on each end of the bridge directing traffic. Mountain Construction of Lovell is the prime contractor on the project.

The work was originally supposed to take place in May but was postponed due to flooding, which occurred from above average snow pack rates that melted at a faster rate due to warmer weather.

The speed limit will be reduced to 10 mph in the work zone, and motorists should expect about a 10- to 15-minute delay.

The work is anticipated to be completed this summer.

“Motorists are asked to slow down, obey posted speed limits and watch out for workers when driving in the construction area,” said Jake Lonn, Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer in Rawlins. “WYDOT puts traffic control measures into place to protect both motorists and workers in the construction zones.”

The work is part of a 12-mile long overlay project between Walcott Junction and Saratoga. Crews completed the majority of the work in 2015, but need to finish some minor bridge repairs this spring.
