Rescheduled Public Open House for the Relocation of Hwy 59 North of Gillette

Date: 12/10/2013

12:31

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will hold a public Open House on the possible Relocation of Hwy 59 North of Gillette on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 5-7 pm at the Best Western Towers West Lodge in Gillette.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) and its project partners are initiating a feasibility study to evaluate relocating a segment of Wyoming State Highway 59 (WYO 59) north of Gillette in Campbell County.  The project, known as the WYO 59 Relocation Project, would relocate approximately 4.35 miles of WYO 59 near Eagle Butte coal mine.  The relocated road segment would allow mining operations to continue at the Eagle Butte Mine which are restricted by the existing roadway location.

WYDOT is seeking public input on the project, including the proposed relocation alternative and potential impacts to environmental resources in the area.

The meeting will be open house style, you are invited to attend at your convenience.  Maps and displays of the project area will be available for your review.  You will have the opportunity to given written comments and ask questions of the cooperative partners in the Hwy 59 Relocation Project.
