Riverton construction update: East Pershing remains closed through late July

July 2, 2018

Highway improvements are picking up steam on the North Federal Boulevard highway improvement project in Riverton, as concrete work is moving toward East Pershing Avenue and side streets are reopening to traffic.

Prime contractor S&S Builders, LLC, of Gillette plans to reopen the East Lincoln and East Jackson intersections on Tuesday, July 3, and North Federal concrete paving is slated for Friday, July 6, between East Lincoln and East Pershing Avenue.

"We appreciate everyone's patience during this ambitious reconstruction effort, especially local businesses," said Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Robert Scheidemantel of Riverton. "Drivers: Please avoid making left-hand turns in the work zone, and please slow down. The speed limit inside the work zone is 20 mph."

The North Federal/East Pershing intersection closed to traffic Thursday, and it will remain closed to through traffic until late July. The good news: the East Park Avenue intersection reopened Wednesday evening.

"The contractor won't work Wednesday, July 4, to allow everyone to observe Independence Day," Scheidemantel said.

In other project news, S&S plans to demolish concrete on North Federal Boulevard to Sunset Drive on Monday (July 2) and Tuesday (July 3). Demolition of concrete is scheduled to move its concrete demolition back to the south end of the project on Monday, July 9, with the beginning of the second half of work planned in 2018, and about a week of work is scheduled in Washington Avenue intersection.

S&S's schedule calls for concrete paving between Pershing and Sunset tentatively on Wednesday, July 18.

Citizens and businesses are reminded of the weekly public meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday in Riverton City Hall.
