Two projects to affect Casper area traffic

May 30, 2017

Two upcoming road projects will affect traffic on Salt Creek Highway and Wyoming Boulevard in Casper.

Salt Creek Highway (WYO 254) will be closed at its south junction with West Yellowstone Highway beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, June 5 through 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 7 to allow for the replacement of the railroad crossing.

Business access from Salt Creek Highway will not be affected, however, access to the highway will be from the north via the Shoshoni Bypass for these two days.

On Wednesday, June 7, crews will begin the reconstruction of the intersection of Wyoming Boulevard (WYO 258) and 12th Street, on Casper’s east side.

Work will begin with the replacement of water lines through the intersection, affecting the east half of the intersection first. Traffic on Wyoming Boulevard will be reduced to one lane, either direction, on the southbound lanes. There will be no right turn from northbound Wyoming Boulevard onto east 12th, however, westbound traffic on 12th will be allowed either through the intersection or onto northbound Wyoming Boulevard. Eastbound traffic on 12th must turn right or left at Wyoming Boulevard; there will be no through eastbound traffic on 12th Street.

As work progresses, there will be changes to how the intersection works and the traffic flow will be altered. Additionally, the dual left turn lane from Blackmore Road onto southbound Wyoming Boulevard will be reduced to one turn lane. The Wyoming Department of Transportation advises motorists to avoid this intersection of they can because of the traffic delays.

This project is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 16, 2017.

Please pay attention to workers, flaggers, speed limits and signs/warnings in every construction zone.
