WYDOT seeks public comment on Wyoming State Rail Plan amendments

September 24, 2018

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is currently considering transportation-related amendments to the program of candidate projects in the Wyoming State Rail Plan.

WYDOT is requesting public comments on proposed additions to the plan. To submit a comment, people can email WYDOT at Wyoming State Rail Plan. WYDOT will accept public comments until Nov. 7.

The following projects are being considered for inclusion:

  • Roadway over railroad structures:
    • Powder River, structure number DRD
    • Ranchester, structure number CDR
    • Interchange Road/Blairtown, New Structure
    • Terry Bison, structure number CYD
  • At-grade crossings:
    • Pine Bluffs At-Grade Crossing Relocation
    • West Winds New At-Grade Crossing
  • Cokeville At-Grade Crossing - Alternative Access
  • Passenger Rail Development Study
  • Reed Avenue Spur Safety Upgrades

Structure projects are currently programmed in the State Transportation Improvement Program, but are being included for consideration of future funding opportunities. All other projects and studies are currently considered unfunded, and their placement in the plan does not ensure that the project will move forward. However, once adopted into the current plan, they are prequalified in the event that future grant funding becomes available.

WYDOT will also consider input on projects from the existing Wyoming Rail Project Inventory, found in Table 4-1 of the current plan.
