WYDOT to close Wagonhound rest area Monday

February 10, 2017

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will close the Wagonhound rest area on Monday, Feb. 13 so crews can remove four damaged light poles.

Crews will close the Wagonhound rest area, which is 50 miles west of Laramie, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. so a crane can remove the damaged poles.

Crews found cracks at the base of the poles, which has caused the structures to weaken. One of the poles has already fallen.

Although the rest area is closed WYDOT has six others along I-80 that are open. They are Pine Bluffs (near the Nebraska border), Summit (9 miles east of Laramie), Ft. Steele (13 miles east of Rawlins), Bitter Creek (41 miles east of Rock Springs), Lyman (36 miles east of Evanston) and Bear River (1 mile east of Evanston).
