Hams-Fork-Meeting.jpgThe Wyoming Department of Transportation hosted a public meeting on the pavement rehabilitation project on Wyoming Highway 233, Hams Fork Road. The meeting took place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Best Western Plus Fossil Country Inn and Suites at 760 Highway 189/30 in Kemmerer.

The purpose of the meeting was to share with the public the current status of the Hwy 233 Hams Fork Road job, to discuss what motorists can expect to see in the future for the road section and to answer any additional questions about the job.

The meeting began with a short presentation, and then residents had an opportunity to ask questions. In the presentation, WYDOT informed the public that they are planning to overlay the whole section of roadway with bituminous pavement next spring.

“WYDOT recognizes the need for correct action. Therefore, we are placing a pavement overlay on the entire length of this job,” District Engineer Keith Compton said.

WYDOT continues to meet with the contractor and the job has yet to be accepted by WYDOT.

WYDOT has an established construction process to protect the investment of public funds, ensure quality work, address the safety and interests of the public and help contractors to be successful.

The contract was awarded to Knife River Corporation Northwest. The work included grading, full depth reclamation, chip seal and miscellaneous work on 17.73 miles beginning at about road marker 2.
