WYO 230 reopens after firefighters contain more of the Badger Creek wildfire

June 19, 2018

The Wyoming Department of Transportation reopened WYO 230 from Woods Landing to the Colorado state line after officials deemed it was safe from the Badger Creek wildfire.

Officials reopened WYO 230 at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19. WYO 10 reopened on Monday. WYDOT closed both roads last week due to the Badger Creek wildfire, which caused unsafe travel conditions.

As of Tuesday, firefighters had the wildfire about 88 percent contained. The fire impacted about 20,000 acres of land in southeast Wyoming.

Some forest service roads in the fire area will remain closed until it is safe to reopen those roads. Drivers should use extra care when traveling on both roads between Woods Landing and the Colorado state line. Firefighting personnel will still be present in the area and drivers may encounter lingering smoke.
