WYDOT Aeronautics Division personnel work in conjunction with members of the Aeronautics Commission to support aviation and publicly owned airports in the state.

The Airports section administers federal- and state-aid funds for public use airports and plays a role in design of airport construction and maintenance projects. The section also facilitates safety inspection efforts at all public and some private airports.

The Airports section is comprised of the Planning & Budgeting, Engineering and Air Service programs.  Click here for a monthly update of all Airport Section programs.

  • Planning and Budgeting Program

The WYDOT Aeronautics Planning & Budgeting Program initiates, compiles and monitors activities of the Aeronautics Commission; initiates, develops, monitors and maintains statewide airport capital improvement projects; maintains, releases and approves grants and loans; and insures each Wyoming airport maintains approved long range planning and environmental documents for sustainable airport facilities throughout the state.

  • Engineering Program

The WYDOT Aeronautics Engineering Program  works with airports and their consultants on maintenance and construction projects, and assists with securing equipment. Additionally, special projects including the Mountain AWOS Project are under this program.
