BRASS-GIRDER BETA

BRASS-GIRDERTM BETA

The Wyoming Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the release of the new beta test version of BRASS-GIRDER™. This program has a completely new and powerful dynamic user interface and has merged the engines from the BRASS-GIRDER(LRFD)™ and BRASS-GIRDER(STD) programs.

The merged BRASS-GIRDER(LRFD)™ and BRASS-GIRDER(STD) program is capable of computing ratings or a design review of steel  and precast prestressed girders only at this time. It has a single graphical user interface capable of using either the Load Factor or Load and Resistance Factor methods. Work on the next phase of development - reinforced  concrete girder rating/analysis - is currently under way.

Existing BRASS-GIRDER(LRFD)™ and/or BRASS-GIRDER(STD) users are welcome to download and test the beta version free of charge. However, remember that this is a beta test version of BRASS-GIRDER™, BRASS-GIRDER(LRFD)™, and BRASS- GIRDER(STD) and results should not be used in production.

The first time you run the program, you will get a message saying the program could not find the file GirderGUI-Preferences.xml. Select "continue" and the program will open. Whenever you exit, the program saves any preferences (user defined or default) in the GirderGUI-Preferences.xml file.

The beta version has a complete help system. The Getting Started Manual may also be downloaded from the FTP server. An example manual has not yet been written.
