Landslide affects traffic on US 14 southeast of Sheridan

April 29, 2014

A landslide on Jim Creek Hill about 15 miles southeast of Sheridan has resulted in a temporary detour and reduced speed limit of 30 mph on US Highway 14.

WYDOT geologists have been monitoring the slide since early spring, and

significant movement last week prompted maintenance crews to grade and pave a detour into the hillside beside the road to move traffic away from the slide below the highway.

The detour is narrower than the highway, so drivers are urged to use caution and comply with the reduced speed limit. Barriers have been installed along the edge of the highway to improve safety.
