New Cheyenne driver license location now open

March 10, 2014

The Cheyenne driver license office is now open at its new location just northwest of the I-25 College Drive Interchange.

The office opens at 8 a.m. and closes its doors at 4:30 p.m. so customers already in line can be served by 5 p.m.

The former Norris Travel Center facility at 1520 Etchepare Circle has been remodeled and has room for an additional examiner station, more room and parking for customers and easier access to public restrooms.

The facility had been vacant since 2012, when the Travel and Tourism Department opened the new Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center at the High Plains Interchange about three miles to the south.

“The new waiting area will be a little bit bigger, and it should be more comfortable,” WYDOT Driver Services Manager Don Edington said. “Parking is an issue at our current facility at times for both customers and employees. We’ll have more parking at the new facility.”

The current facility has room for four examiners. The new facility has room for a fifth examiner, which will allow a Driver Services supervisor help out during busy times. There also will be more counter space and room behind the counter for the examiners, making it easier for them to do their job efficiently.

Skills testing courses for commercial driver license and motorcycle operator license applicants will be set up at the new site.
