Pine Bluffs rest area on I-80 closed for repairs

September 12, 2016

The Pine Bluffs rest area on I-80 will close on Monday so crews can perform curb and gutter repairs to the sidewalk and parking lot.

The rest area, which is just before the Nebraska border, will need to be closed so crews have room to work and to give the concrete a chance to dry. The rest area is expected to reopen in about a week.

The Fort Steele rest area on I-80 is also closed and crews are working to reopen it. That rest area closed earlier this summer for ongoing maintenance on the water system, which was due for an overhaul.

Although those rest areas are closed, WYDOT has five others along I-80 that are open for travelers to use.

They are Summit (9 miles east of Laramie), Wagonhound, (50 miles west of Laramie), Bitter Creek (41 miles east of Rock Springs), Lyman (36 miles east of Evanston) and Bear River (1 mile east of Evanston).
