Important Rules Notification Update

Current Rules

Public Notice of Intent to Adopt Rules and Regulations

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) hereby gives public notice of intent, in accordance W.S. 16-3-103, to revise the following rules and regulations:

Motor Vehicles and Licensing Section,
Chapter 1, Driver’s Licenses and Motor Vehicle Safety

General Section,
Chapter 29, Emergency Lighting for Snow Removal Equipment

Chapter 1, Driver’s Licenses and Motor Vehicle Safety, revisions update the rule to comply with current statutes.  Notable revisions include updating the visual acuity requirements, the provision for disqualifying a commercial driver’s license (CDL) for human trafficking convictions, and the quality requirements for photographic licenses and identification cards.  Additionally, the revised rule eliminates the motor vehicle accident prevention course for insurance premium reductions (which is administered by private industry), eliminates the “T” restriction on CDLs, and modifies the “O” restriction on CDLs required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Chapter 29, Emergency Lighting for Snow Removal Equipment, revisions update the rule to provide options for lights on snow removal equipment.  These options will allow WYDOT, municipalities, and counties to determine the most effective lights to enhance the visibility of snow removal equipment in varying weather conditions and improve driver safety for both the traveling public and equipment operators.  Other revisions simplify the rule text.
