Getting Started & General Questions

What is the WYFly Passport Progam?

The WYFly Passport Program is a new and improved version of a historical initiative which aims to encourage pilots and aviation enthusiasts to explore each of Wyoming's public-use airports and the surrounding communities. Participants will collect stamps at participating airports to earn tiered rewards like patches, jackets, or certificates, while fostering camaraderie and promoting aviation safety.

Who is in charge of the WYFly Passport Progam?

The WYFly Passport Program is a collaborative effort between WYDOT Aeronautics, the Wyoming Airports Coalition and the public-use airports around the state. Prizes (patches and jackets) are graciously sponsored by the Wyoming Airports Coalition.

How can I obtain a passport?

WYFly Passport books can be obtained at any of Wyoming’s 34 paved public-use airports, they will be located at the designated Visitor Station. Passport books can also be obtained from WYDOT Aeronautics staff at their Cheyenne office located at 200 E. 8th Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001.

Can I use a digital version of the passport or a print-at-home copy?

No, only official WYFly Passport Books are eligible for recognition and prizes.

How many airports are there?

Wyoming has 40 public-use airports, 34 of them have paved runways and 6 are non-paved. The paved airports have been separated into 4 regions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast) and the non-paved airports are their own region (Dirt Daredevil).

Is there a deadline or time limitation for collecting stamps?

There is deadline or time limitation for collecting stamps. You may complete the program at your own pace for as long as the program remains active.

Do I have to fly to the airports?

No. While the goal of the WYFly Passport Program is to encourage aviation activity at Wyoming’s public-use airports, the Visitor Stations with stamps are located in areas accessible to the general public to allow for driving participants. Please keep in mind that Visitor Stations may be placed in locations that are more convenient for aviators so please refer to the website for details about the location of the Visitor Station before you travel to an airport.

I'm a frequent passenger but not a pilot. Am I eligible for the same prizes?

Yes! The WYFly Passport Program is open to everyone. Whether you are the pilot in command, a passenger in an aircraft, or driving the family SUV, you are eligible for all patches and the Grand Prize jacket upon completion.

Can children participate?

Absolutely. We love seeing young aviation enthusiasts! However, the "One Passport Per Person" rule still applies. Each child must have their own booklet and collect their own stamps to earn prizes.

If I'm traveling with my family, can we use one book for everyone?

Yes however, each participant who wishes to claim a prize must have their own individual passport. Stamps cannot be shared or transferred between books.

Can I submit photos of my journey?

Absolutely. We would love to see your pictures and have created a convenient form for submission. By submitting photos through this link, you grant permission to the Wyoming Airports Coalition and/or WYDOT Aeronautics to use the image in future publications, on their respective websites, and on social media channels. Photo Submission Form

Airports, Visitor Stations & Stamps

How do I find Visitor Station locations?

Please visit the "Visitor Station Location" page to find details about where to find the Visitor Station(s) at any participating airport.

What if I arrive after hours and the terminal/FBO is locked?

Visitor Stations may be located indoors or outdoors and some airports may have multiple station locations. Please keep in mind that Visitor Stations may be placed in locations that are more convenient for aviators so please refer to the website for details about the location of the Visitor Station before you travel to an airport. If a Visitor Station is inaccessible, please follow the "Missing Stamp" protocol: take a selfie in front of the airport sign and notify WYDOT Aeronautics via email at dot-aeroinfo@wyo.gov to receive credit.

I visited an airport but forgot to get my stamp. Can I send a photo of my flight log instead?

For consistency, only the official airport stamp or the "Missing Stamp" protocol (submitted according to the rules) is accepted. However, if you have unique circumstances that you’d like us to consider, please email us at dot-aeroinfo@wyo.gov.

I have all the stamps for a region, but one is slightly smeared or hard to read. Will it still count?

Our authentication team is looking for "good faith" participation. As long as the stamp is recognizable as the correct airport, it will count. If a stamp is completely illegible, we recommend including your "Missing Stamp" protocol (as outlined above) as support.

What should I do if there are issues with a Visitor Station such as damage or a supply shortage?

Please complete the WYFly Passport Program Feedback Form or email us at dot-aeroinfo@wyo.gov to provide any feedback on the Passport Program or Visitor Station locations.

Does the passport give me special access to restricted areas of the airport?

No, Visitor Stations are located in public-access areas. Aviation Safety is of the utmost priority and all participants must follow standard airport security protocols. Program participants must obey local, state and federal laws and regulations. Please respect "Authorized Personnel Only" signs, airport personnel and fellow participants.

Does having a passport give me priority at the FBO?

No. Please remember that airports and FBOs are active places of business. Be patient with staff, follow all posted safety signs, and ensure you aren't blocking active taxiways or ramps while looking for a stamp station. The spirit of the program is important to us, this includes promoting aviation safety, fostering camaraderie and creating memories.

What should I do if a stamp station is missing, damaged or out of ink?

Please treat this the same as a missing stamp: take a selfie in front of the airport sign, scan the QR code on the Passport Station, and fill out the WYFly Passport Program Feedback Form to report the issue. This will notify WYDOT Aeronautics of the issue so we can replace supplies or fix issues with the Visitor Station. Because connectivity can be limited at some airports, you can also email us at dot-aeroinfo@wyo.gov when it’s convenient for you.

How do I know which airports belong to which region?

Wyoming has 40 public-use airports, 34 of them have paved runways and 6 are non-paved. The paved airports have been separated into 4 regions (Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast) and the non-paved airports are their own region (Dirt Daredevil).Your passport booklet includes a map and lists which group airports into their four primary geographical regions. Each region and their associated airports can also be found on our website. You can also access the airport directory here which includes details about each airport and their facilities.

If I complete a non-paved airport, does it count toward a regional patch?

No, the non-paved airports have their own category, the Dirt Daredevil, which is a separate achievement. Obtaining stamps at all 6 non-paved airports and completing the Dirt Daredevil category earns a specialty patch but does not count toward the completion of the 4 Primary Regions or the WYFly Passport Program prize jacket.
