ATTENDANCE - Students must attend all scheduled sessions, to continue and successfully complete the course.
BE PUNCTUAL - Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before all class sessions. Classes Start Promptly! Students arriving late will be turned away and will forfeit the class payment.
REQUIREMENTS - Minors (under 18) will require a parent/guardian signature to participate. Parent/Guardian must sign the form, in the presence of the instructor, at the beginning of the class. The waiver can be signed in advance if it is notarized.
You should be in moderate good health and able to ride a bicycle. This course is not designed to teach balance and/or coordination. Students with balance and/or coordination problems may find this course prohibitively difficult.
COURSE INFORMATION - Attendance is mandatory at all sessions. The Basic RiderCourse (BRC) will last approximately 15 hours, including the mandatory eCourse. There is no guarantee of successfully completing the Basic RiderCourse.
RIDING GEAR - All riders will be required to always use proper riding gear during the on-cycle instruction. Students will be removed from class and forfeit the payment if you do not have proper gear.
- Helmet: U.S. DOT Certified (loaners are provided if needed).
- Eye Protection: Face shield, goggles, or glasses/sunglasses.
- Gloves: Full-fingered (leather preferred).
- Top: Long-sleeved shirt or jacket (to the wrist). NO exposed skin.
- Bottoms: Long, full-length, non-flare, abrasion-resistant pants (e.g., denim) that completely cover the legs down to the riding boots. NO sweatpants, spandex, or leggings. NO exposed skin.
- Footwear: Sturdy, over-the-ankle boots.
EQUIPMENT - Motorcycles and helmets will be provided for the students for the Basic RiderCourse. If you choose to bring your own helmet it must be a ¾ or full-face helmet that meets U.S. DOT standards. No half-helmets will be allowed.
SPECTATORS - To keep our students focused and the range safe, training sessions are limited to students participating only.
RESCHEDULING OF CLASSES - Class sessions are subject to rescheduling due to conditions beyond our control. In the event of inclement weather, on-cycle sessions will be decided on-site by the instructor. If a session is cancelled for safety, students will be refunded or rescheduled at no additional cost.
REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY -
- Full Refund: Written request sent 14+ days before class.
- Conditional Refund (14–7 Days): If you cancel between 14 and 7 days before class, a refund is only issued if we can fill your seat. If your seat cannot be filled, student will be notified and no refund will be issued.
- No Refund: Cancellations within 7 days of start date, no-shows (regardless of reason), late arrivals, course failure, or dismissals of any kind (e.g., improper gear, safety concerns).
- Rescheduling or Dropping Class: Email dot.motorcyclesafety@wyo.gov. If you are rescheduling due to a "No Refund" reason, you must pay for a new class.
