Transportation Commission awards $19 million in contracts in May

The Wyoming Department of Transportation will repave 11 miles of road on US 30 in Cokeville and south of the community to improve the road surface.

The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded a $4.9 million contract to Avail Valley Construction, of Afton, for the work on US 30. The commission awarded that and six other contracts totaling $19 million at its recent meeting.

For the US 30 work in Lincoln County, crews will perform a mill and overlay to improve the surface. They will also do guardrail and Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades. The contract completion date is Sept. 30, 2022.

Besides the US 30 work, the other contracts the commission awarded included installing passing lanes, performing paving work and performing patching work.

Croell Inc., of Sundance, was the low bidder on a $4.3 million road widening contract on WYO 59 in Campbell County.

Crews will extend six passing lanes in a 7-mile area between Reno Junction and Gillette. Crews will widen the road in those areas to accommodate the new passing lanes. The contract completion date is June 30, 2022.

Croell Inc. also won a $3.3 million contract for a paving project on 10 miles of US 16 and US 14-16 between Ucross and Clearmont in Sheridan County.

Crews will perform a mill and overlay on the road, install fencing and make isolated soft spot repairs to the road to improve the surface. The contract completion date is July 31, 2022.

The commission awarded McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co., of Worland, a $3.3 million contract for a resurfacing project on WYO 789 in Carbon and Sweetwater counties.

Crews will perform a mill and overlay on 10 miles of road. They will also install delineators and make bridge deck repairs. WYDOT is having the work completed to improve the surface of the road. The contract completion date is July 31, 2022.

Knife River, of Cheyenne, won a $2.4 million contract for patch work in Cheyenne and Laramie. The work in Cheyenne will be completed on College Drive between Pershing Boulevard and Campstool Road by the UP bridge. 

The work in Laramie will be on Grand Avenue from 21st Street to 30th Street. The contract completion date is June 30, 2022.

Also awarded by the commission were contracts for:

  • $619,928 to S & L Industries, of Cowley, for grading and guardrail work at various locations on US 189-191 between Bondurant and Hoback Junction in Sublette and Teton counties by Oct. 31, 2021; and 
  • $341,700 to Advanced Electric Contracting Inc., of Sheridan, for dynamic message sign, electrical work and guardrail work at various locations in Johnson and Sheridan counties by April 30, 2022.
