US 18 resurfacing completed east of Mule Creek Junction

September 2, 2014

Ten miles of US 18 between Mule Creek Junction and the South Dakota border has been resurfaced under a project made possible by the 10-cent fuel tax increase. McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland milled off deteriorating pavement and replaced it with a new layer of pavement under a $3.3 million contract awarded in January. The road carries heavy truck traffic, and the additional fuel tax revenue made it possible to move the pavement preservation work ahead in WYDOT’s project schedule. The contract completion date was Oct. 31, 2014, but paving was completed and traffic restored to normal by Aug. 31.
