Driver Education

Driver Education is a course that must be approved through the Wyoming Department of Education. Minors who are eligible to take driver education must apply for acceptance into a program through their local school district.

Students who have completed an approved driver education course may present their certificate of completion to a driver examiner when applying for a Wyoming driver license. If the certificate is from an approved program, then the examiner has the discretion to waive the required driving skills test when issuing a license. Not all certificates are acceptable. The certificate must be issued from a provider listed on the approved list. It should be noted that the driver examiner may choose not to waive the driving skills test.

Completion of an approved driver education course does not guarantee that the drive test will be waived for any applicant.  If you have previously failed a driving test with a state examiner, you will be required to take the test again with a state examiner regardless of completion of driver education.
