US 16 pavement repair completed in Worland

Date: 08/29/2014 

Concrete pavement repair and crack sealing were completed on June 25 on a section of US 16 in Worland. The work was done by McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland under a $355,000 contract funded with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase. It is the first project completed with the additional fuel tax revenue.

US 20 paving completed in Wind River tunnels

Work was completed July 8 on a $369,000 resurfacing project made possible by revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase. The project is the second completed with the additional fuel tax revenue. 71 Construction of Casper completed the work a 0.3-mile section of US 20 through the Wind River tunnels. The work consisted of pavement rehabilitation, mostly milling and resurfacing work, through the three tunnels at the south end of Wind River Canyon between Shoshoni and Thermopolis. The work was completed ahead of the July 31 contract completion date.

Eight miles of US 16-20 located just south of Manderson has a new layer of pavement and a chip seal thanks to a $2.8 million project completed by Worland-based McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. The contract won by McGarvin-Moberly in November carried a completion date of Oct. 31, 2014, and was funded with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.

Resurfacing of 10 miles of WYO 28 between Farson and South Pass was completed on Aug. 22, making the project the third completed with revenue raised by the 10-cent fuel tax increase. McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland completed the work under a $1.9 million contract that carried a completion date of Oct. 31.

Resurfacing of 10 miles of WYO 28 between the Sublette County line and the South Pass Rest Area south of Lander was completed on Aug. 29, the fourth project completed using the additional fuel tax revenue WYDOT has received. McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland completed the work under a $3.8 million contract for milling off deteriorating pavement and replacing it with a new layer of pavement and a final chip seal.

Ten miles of US 18 between Mule Creek Junction and the South Dakota border has been resurfaced under a project made possible by the 10-cent fuel tax increase. McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland milled off deteriorating pavement and replaced it with a new layer of pavement under a $3.3 million contract awarded in January. The road carries heavy truck traffic, and the additional fuel tax revenue made it possible to move the pavement preservation work ahead in WYDOT’s project schedule. WYO 196 resurfacing completed south of Buffalo

Work is complete on a project to resurface six miles of WYO 196 about five miles south of Buffalo. McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland milled off deteriorating pavement and replaced it with a new layer of pavement under a $1.9 million contract awarded in March. The work between Crazy Woman Canyon Road and the Bull Creek bridge was paid for with increased fuel tax revenue The contract completion date was Oct. 31, 2014, but the paving work was completed by the end of August.

Resurfacing of a 5.7-mile section of WYO 30 immediately west of Basin has been completed under a $1.5 million contract awarded to McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. of Worland in November. The project, funded with additional fuel tax revenue, consisted of milling the existing pavement and then placing an asphalt overlay. The contract included a completion date of Oct. 31, 2014.

US 191 resurfacing completed south of Boulder

LeGrand Johnson Construction of Logan, Utah, has completed the resurfacing of nearly eight miles of US 191 about eight miles south of Boulder. Deteriorating pavement was milled off and replaced with a new layer of pavement under a $1.4 million contract paid for with additional fuel tax money. The work was completed ahead of the Oct. 31, 2014 completion date included in the contract.

Nearly eight miles of US 14 east of Greybull got a new layer of pavement under a $2.8 million contract awarded to Lovell's Mountain Construction. The work was completed on Sept. 5, 2014, ahead of the Sept. 30, 2014 completion date included in the contract.

Resurfacing of 10 miles miles of US 189 immediately north of its junction with Interstate 80 at Lazeart Junction has been completed under a $2.8 million contract awarded to LeGrand Johnson Construction of Logan, Utah. The contract was awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission at it's October meeting and the contract completion date is Oct. 31, 2014.

Pavement leveling and a chip seal have been completed on a 15.3 mile section of WYO 28 under a $3.4 million contract awarded to McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co. of Worland. The project area is located immediately north of South Pass. The work consisted of first leveling the road surface with a thin overlay of asphalt pavement and then applying a chip seal ot the asphalt. The contract completion date was June 30, 2015.

A 10.5-mile section of US 189 has been improved under a $2.8 million contract completed by LeGrand Johnson Construction Co. of Logan, Utah. The project immediately south of Kemmerer consisted of milling off deteriorating pavement and replacing it with a new layer of pavement.

US 89 project in Afton completed with 10-cent fuel tax revenue

A three-mile section of US 89 through Afton has a new layer of pavement under a $2.7 million contract completed to DePatco Inc. of St. Anthony, Idaho. The work included sidewalk replacement and new sidewalks at the south end of the project. The project is one of 19 WYDOT funded with the additional fuel tax revenue the department receive during the past year.

Paving is complete and traffic back to normal on the rebuilt 2.3-mile section of US 26-287 at Diversion Dam Junction west of Riverton. A final chip seal is scheduled for next spring. Casper’s Oftedal Construction completed the work under a  $4.3 million contract awarded by the Wyoming Transportation Commission in March. The work addressed problems with unstable soils under the highway by installing three layers of geogrid, a heavy plastic mesh, in the soil before the road section was rebuilt. Pavement overlay work has been completed on a 5.1-mile section of WYO 116 south of Sundance by High Country Construction, Inc., of Lander. The $6.9 million project included minor widening and replacement of the bridge over Inyan Kara Creek.

Chip seals completed on northeast Wyoming highway sections

Work has been completed on a chip sealing project to extend the life of the pavement on highway sections in Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston counties. Bituminous Paving Inc. of Ortonville, Minn., completed the work under a $3.4 million contract. About $1.9 million of the funding for the project came from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.

Cheyenne’s Reiman Corp. has completed work on a $4.9 million project to replace and repair damaged concrete slabs on a mile of US 14A-WYO789 (Main Street) in Lovell. The road repairs accounted for $2.4 million of the total contract and were paid for with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase. Also included in the contract was replacing water and sewer lines under the road at a cost of $2.5 million. That work was paid for by the town of Lovell.

Work has been completed on pavement overlay and shoulder widening on 3.5 miles of WYO 433 north of Worland,. Oftedal Construction of Casper complete the work under a $5.7 million contract awarded to on Sept. 18, 2014.

McGarvin-Moberly Construction of Worland has completed a $3.1 million contract for resurfacing and chip sealing 10 miles of WYO 432 south of Worland. The work was paid for with revenue from the fuel tax increase.

Pavement rehabilitation on 6.5 miles of WYO 296 (Chief Joseph Highway) has been completed. The work included some shoulder flattening, a pavement overlay and a chip seal to the top of Dead Indian Pass about 37 miles northwest of Cody. H-K Contractors of Idaho Falls completed the work under a $2.7 million contract. The project was paid for with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.

A pavement overlay is complete on a 12-mile section of WYO 130-230 north of Saratoga. The work was completed by Mountain Construction Co. of Lovell under a $3.7 million contract.

Simon Contractors and Subsidiaries of Cheyenne has completed a $3.86 million project to grind off deteriorating pavement and replace it with a new layer of pavement on 10 miles of US 85 immediately east of I-25 north of Cheyenne. The work was paid for with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.

Thirteen bridges on highways in Big Horn, Fremont, Hot Springs, Park and Washakie counties were rehabilitated under a $2.9 million project completed by Gerber Construction of Lehi, Utah. The project was funded with revenue from the 10-cent fuel tax increase.
